  1. Seventies Soul Revue contains 12 forgotten songs and minor hits, all '70s funk and soul obscurities. Some of these songs hold up quite well, particluarly selections from Graham Central Station, Sly & the Family Stone and Charles Wright, but others show their age and are primarily of interest as period pieces.5/ Permalink
  2. The three-volume Soul Grooves series from ITP is too esoteric (and occasionally crazily obscure to a fault) to recommend to anyone but the most seasoned soul fan who knows what she or he is getting into. Each volume bounces between the '60s and '70s with an assortment of rarely compiled cuts, plenty of which have been championed only by soul fanatics willing to shell out triple figures to pick 6/ Permalink

  8. Sep 14,  · Crackin definitely have a special touch on this 70s set – a way of mixing together funk, soul, and jazz influences – all in a groove that's every bit as tight as contemporaries like Rufus or Average White Band, even though Crackin never reached the heights that they did! Permalink
